Contrary to the opinions of my esteemed colleagues, the view does not distract from nor diminish the bafflement provoked by the disconcerting juxtaposition of seemingly conflicting aesthetics. The ceiling beams of stunning wood look down upon floors of engineered vinyl. Granite surfaces bless every bathroom, while the kitchen is deprived of such. Instead of an open floorpan, revelling in the western and southern views and sunlight, many spaces in the house are confined, uncertain how to behave, because their function is questionable, contrived. If a space has no vital purpose, of what value are the view and the light that it grants? Back to the kitchen, which is most disappointing, the view would likely be the only inspiration. This is in many regards, despite and still, a lovely home, especially if one is content to look out and up, rather than within.
