Rainbows

Being as I appear, appearing as I am, neither deprives me of anything in particular, nor permits me anything in particular. It takes courage to be who you really are. Better hated for the truth than loved for the lie. In the Philippines, in Tagalog, there is a word, a designation for those of similar persuasion – bakla.

Stereotypes are irrelevant here, as are ignorance, judgement, prejudice. We are delicate, sensitive; not fragile, as in porcelain, but ephemeral, governed by moisture and light, time and place, as in rainbow. Also, again, not like porcelain, we break like waves, either soothing or inundating. The moon and the stars will always have the night; rainbows always come with the sun.
